Fast Running/Adult Film/Modeling
So, I ran 4.88 miles (I mapquested the route) in 39:35 (T). That’s 8:06 min/miles. There is no reason to be running that fast. What was that Rob? Something about patience? I am sure it has something to do with being told I am slow, but, honestly, it also has to do with the fact that I knew exactly how far the route was and I knew I would be able to figure out my pace when I was done. Also, my running club is doing a speed workout tonight that I am skipping b/c I don't feel ready for speed workouts and b/c I like running in the morning-so it was good to get a faster run in. It felt fast, but it didn’t feel horrible or race speed or anything so that is encouraging. It was 20:54 out (uphill) and 18:41 back. The reason I know that is b/c I used the lap/split key on my watch. Boooyah! And, of course, it was drizzling. Welcome back to Boston…stop it, bad Audrey…look at your list of ways to embrace the place!!!!
After the run I got into my apartment and thought, this is fabulous, no one is here, it’s ALL mine!!, and took off my shirt. Honestly, I have previously had maybe two unexpected visitors in the whole year I lived here. Maybe 5 seconds after I took off my shirt, ditched it in the bathroom, and climbed the obstacles course (bed, chair, boxes) back to my tv room there is a knock on the door. All shirts are far away!! So I answer the door, sweating, and this guy about my age is there with an exterminator shirt on asking, “Do you have any bed bugs here?” I felt like I should say, “I don’t know. Why don’t we go check?” I mean, how random is it that someone showed up AND he was some random profession that needed to see my bed and I was barely wearing any clothing. It was very “adult film” like.
I also answered this ad for running models that my running club sent out. The ad was: “We are looking for non-professional models who are accomplished runners between the ages of 19 and 30 years old, all ethnicities, for a still photo shoot in the first week of October in the New England area for a major sports apparel and footwear manufacturer.” So I went. Why? I think it would be interesting. It pays well ($500 for the day) and I think it would be cool to have pictures taken doing what I love to do. I imagine regular modeling is way different than what today was like. I went running. Showered. Put on fresh running clothes. Put in contacts. Pulled my hair into a pony tail. Plucked my eyebrows. Put some cover-up on some blemishes and then put on matching socks and sneakers. I showed up a few minutes early and there was only one girl ahead of me. I filled out a form that asked my stats (my measurements-not my race times) and which sports I played and how experienced I was at them. I put that I did running, soccer, triathlons, weight lifting, and swimming. I put I was experienced at running and soccer (but no longer played) and just did my first triathlon and only did swimming and weight lifting in passing. They asked me to take off my shirt (I actually felt like SUCH a piece of meat) and then they took two pictures. [Yes, this is the SECOND time today I had my shirt off around other people.] They took one head shot and one full body shot. I think they call in a few weeks. Thoughts: I would have been interested in seeing more of the potential models/runners. Second thought, I could not take being a model. I hated the idea of my value for the project stemming from what I looked like. And I have bad skin and like doughnuts. I am not model material! This is the ULTIMATE having people judge you. I can’t take it!! But it was interesting nonetheless.

That exterminator was probably telling his buddies at the end of the day "Yeah and she had her shirt off and so I asked if there were any BEDbugs, and I was PRAYING she would say we should go check! It was like an adult film, man." :)
I was looking for some runner model ads for me. Can't seem to find the one that "Need blobby runner, years past his prime, must whine alot." Nobody's payin' for that, you know what I mean?
And I hope they do hire you for the modeling. That would be so cool!

A friend of ours who used to be a Mizuno rep was looking for small people as models for their catalog a few years ago. I didn't get paid anything but got to keep the gear (unfortunately, they didn't have any running bras and I just wore regular clothes to the shoot which posed a small - ha ha - problem.) I had a good time at the shoot and there were two pictures of me in the catalog, but I noticed at all the race expos we went to that year many of the big columns or backdrops at the Mizuno booths were covered with a picture that I had been in with two other people and *I* was the only one cut out! I guess that's what happens when they pair two tall, slender, tan, attractive people with a short, very pale (it was February!), muscle-ly girl on a bad hair day wearing a regular bra on under a somewhat see-through running shirt. Guess who's going to get cut out? Couldn't they have airbrushed a tan on me or something?! Sheesh.

Your running club? Ummm, your running club is here in DC, that is just a temp club up there that you should call "my club away from home that is not as cool as my club in DC but suitable for now". I know it's long, but it's the right thing to do. Do what's right.
