Sharing The Ocean
TIRED. I just drove 6 hours home from the beach. I drove all of it b/c on the way out my sister almost drove us off a bridge into the ocean. Consequently, I found the long drive and traffic on the way back more relaxing as the driver.
As for the swim, the water was colder than it has been for a few weeks (65 degrees) so I assumed that was why no one else was swimming. I hopped on in with my goggles and swam for about two minutes. I looked up and saw that I was swimming through a slew of jelly fish. Eww. Gross. So I stopped and tried to avoid them and watched the next wave wash them all away. I started swimming again. Unfortunately, the next wave brought more. They were ALL over. I tried to decide what I wanted to do. They didn’t appear to be stinging me. I started swimming again and after the next wave brought more I freaked out and tried to decide how exactly I would know if jelly fish were on my face.
I got out and sat on the blanket with my dad. As we were watching the ocean some dolphins surfaced about 15-20 feet from where I had been swimming. My dad explained that dolphins don’t attack people but PLEASE, if a dolphin came up next to me while I was swimming I would be hard pressed to sit there and debate if it was a dolphin or a shark touching me. I would definitely be second guessing myself. And even if I had the presence of mind to definitely decide, oh yes, this is a dolphin, I doubt I would continue swimming. It’s a WILD dolphin for goodness sake. In short, other animals asserted their dominance over me in the ocean today and I lost.
I headed to the pool with my littlest little brother and I swam some laps while periodically stopping to check and make sure he was still above water somewhere. Then he and I practiced flip turns. He agrees with me that we both did a pretty ugly job. My Dad and I also biked 8 miles this morning.
We had dinner around 2 PM and then my car of people…sis, her bf, and myself…headed back to real life.

To me, it sounds like you are leaving the real life.
