Great Run, Thanks to Music

I don't like to run outside with headphones for safety reasons and the fact that I like to take note of my auditory environment - whether it's traffic, leaves rustling in the breeze, territorial geese squawking at me, or my own footsteps. I wanted to try out my new Zen Micro, though, so I brought it along for what was supposed to be another easy run. The music had me going. I kind of lost myself in the beat and pushed harder than I planned, but my body felt good, so why not? I had an awesome 68 minute run and finished up with 7 x 30 second striders in a parking lot near my house. I initially tried a grassy straight-away near a lake, but it was a pure mudfest - not too good of footing.

Even though I didn't get much sleep last night, I'm not tired at the moment. I promised myself to get to bed earlier tonight, since I'm working the early shift again tomorrow for a co-worker on vacation. Now that I'm warmed back up from my run and had a snack (two small pieces of pizza), I'm headed to the pool. I'm going to conquer this swimming thing eventually (hopefully before my triathlon in May), even if I end up inhaling all of the Great Lakes!
